My husband and I have always loved water. Every night, no matter how busy the day was, we spent an hour sitting quietly in our backyard pool. It was our ritual. No music. No guests. Just the sound of water and the chance to breathe together before sleep. That peace lasted until the new family moved in next door. From the start, the father watched us too closely. One evening, he leaned over the fence and demanded we stop swimming at night. He said it was distracting. Uncomfortable. Inappropriate. We were stunned. It was our pool, on our property.
